Lisa’s professional journey highlights the idea that a “major does not equal a career.” Lisa has a BA in Elementary Education from Illinois Wesleyan University and holds an Illinois teaching license. She always thought she’d spend her professional years as a teacher, but that was not the case! She began her career as the Center Director and Director of Education for Sylvan Learning Centers, where she ran centers in Chicago, Atlanta, and Charleston. She taught 7th and 8th grade for 1 year in Charleson, SC, before returning to the Midwest to be closer to family. She has been an Academic Advisor at UW Oshkosh since August 2022. Prior to that, she worked at UWO for ArtsCore; a grant-funded program that trains both licensed and pre-service teachers in utilizing arts integration in the classroom. She was responsible for ArtsCore’s digital platform management, and event planning for professional development events. In her spare time, she has her own handmade greeting card business. She has 2 sons in college and her husband is the Chemistry Department Co-Chair and a Professor at UWO.
